Jan Sowa is a materialist dialectical social theorist and researcher on a wide range of topics from populism to cryptocurrencies and postcolonialism. He is best known for his work focusing on modernity and the modernization of the (semi)peripheries of the capitalist world-system. From 2016 to 2019, he was a member of the Cultural Studies Commission of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He is currently a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
