Graduated from the Secondary School of Mechanical Engineering in Opava. After school he worked in Vítkovice Ironworks. After the Velvet Revolution he participated in the transformation of the Revolutionary Trade Union Movement (ROH) into a standard trade union. His professional career is closely connected with trade union organisations. He served as vice-chairman of the national trade union KOVO. In 2000, he founded the OS KOVO Youth Commission, which he subsequently headed and five years later was elected chairman of the entire organisation. In April 2014, he was elected chairman of ČMKOS at the 6th Congress of the Czech-Moravian Confederation of Trade Unions in Prague. He defended his position at the VII Congress in April 2018 and was re-elected in 2022.
