Petra Hanáková is a film theorist. She has taught film theory and conducted seminars on visual culture for 15 years at the Film Science Department of the Faculty of Arts in Prague. She has worked at universities in the United States, and for several years focused on the image of Czech identity in the broad concepts of visual and literary culture. After leaving academia, she began to focus on regional culture in the vicinity of Šumava and the Sudetenland and to organise cultural events and festivals.
